How Then?

What is the question of our time?  What is the challenge of our generation?  What is the essential pressing problem of our day?  Fifty years ago Historian Will Durant believed, “The greatest question of our time is not communism versus individualism, not Europe versus America, not even East versus West; it is whether men can live without God.”  I agree.  We are faced with different variables, yet the solution remains the same.

The real issue facing American society is not the threat of terrorism.  It’s not protecting free speech, equality, or economic fairness.  It’s not even about the scourge of drugs, or the breakdown of the family.  Of course, every one of those are concerns that claim our attention, require our resources, and demand our courage to confront and overcome.  They are, however, mere symptoms of an underlying problem – the loss of God’s influence in society.

The confessing church may soon become the moral minority living under the reign of godless secularism? How then shall we live?

Take Away: Are we prepared for the day when “In God we Trust,” is our life and not our slogan?
